A Healing Homebirth Story – Birth Photography Melbourne
Documenting birth is always such an incredible privilege. But when that birth is for a dear life long friend there is just this extra bit of magic about it. I knew that Amanda's previous three births had all had unexpected interventions and she was really hoping this time would be different. So she planned to have her baby in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her beautiful family.
It was such an emotional experience for me, and I know it was a healing, restorative experience for her. Here's a little run down from Amanda.
"After 3 hospital births with lots of intervention, I had my 4th baby at home a month ago, it was beautiful, everything I hoped for, my three other children were there to see.
My labour was 3 hours from first inkling, my midwife arrived in the last 5 minutes and I BIRTHED MY DAUGHTER MYSELF, no one needed to do anything (after a long & assisted pushing stage with third).
Bringing her up out of the water myself was the MOST POWERFUL MOMENT OF MY LIFE, I couldn’t believe it!"
